Varsitiy Team completes Bunker Renovation at Hidden Hills

The Varsity Golf Team recently renovated an existing bunker at Hidden Hills Golf Course for their use and to allow the facility to have a practice bunker for their existing youth camps for inner city kids.  The boys used not only their time but their developing muscles to execute the product.  All eight boys worked hard for over three hours to complete the project while making it fun...or as much as you can have digging dirt and moving heavy wheel barrows.  Hard work is a value already instilled into these young men, now they are realizing giving back can be fun.   This summer 10 players volunteered to caddy at the John Deere Classic Pro Am.  The boys were required to attend an seminar and then logged 18 holes in high heat and humidity to assist the PGA Tour event held at TPC Deere Run.   Good job Spartans!!!!

The Pleasant Valley Spartan Golf Team  spent the  afternoon on Tuesday September 5th helping complete the new First Tee Course by laying sod and other duties at Highland Springs Golf Course in Rock Island.  The First Tee Quad Cities is a chapter of the National First Tee Program.  Founded in 1999 with the construction and opening of Red Hawk Golf Course in Davenport and The Two Rivers YMCA in Moline, IL, the program offers educational programming using golf and the Nine Core Values to promote the game of golf and life skills to young men and women.  Thousands of young men and women have been introduced to the game at First Tee facilities around the country.  What better way to do community service than helped grow the game the boys truly love.
